Custodial and Grounds
The Rice University Custodial and Grounds department employs 100 Custodians and 26 Groundskeepers to ensure that campus facilities and grounds are clean and aesthetically pleasing. The goal is to provide an environment in which the students, faculty and staff are inspired to achieve their goals and to make Rice University a world-class institution for learning and research.
Mission: To create great First Impressions at Rice by improving the beauty and cleanliness of the buildings and grounds through a sense of ownership of our work areas. We will improve and grow as a team and as individuals.
Information: Leadership for this group is provided by Eusebio Franco, Director, Custodial and Grounds with oversight from Russell Price, assistant vice president of Facilities. Sau Mei Lees provides administrative support to the department. The department has four custodial supervisors, two grounds supervisors and one grounds superintendent. Each supervisor is assigned to a particular area of the campus. Questions, concerns or comments should be directed to Eusebio Franco at 713-348-5349.
Administrative offices are open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. There are two custodial shifts; 6:30 am - 3:00 pm and evenings 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm. For after-hours assistance please call the Facilities Service Center at x2485 and follow the prompts. If you have a custodial emergency, please call the Central Plant Control Room at x4095.
