Space Management

Mission: To work with the University Space Committee, the Office of the Provost, and University Stakeholders to incorporate effective space management strategies through integrated planning of the university's infrastructure and physical plant in support of the university’s mission.

Since 2000, the total gross square footage at Rice has grown from just over three million to over six million. This rapid growth has emphasized the importance of continual and careful stewardship of Rice’s valuable space resource. Facilities Engineering and Planning assists the Office of the Provost with effective management of space at Rice. In 2013 the Space Task Force, chartered by the Provost, issued its report outlining several recommendations and standards designed to promote effective utilization of space at Rice.
