Athletics Liaison

Larry earned his Bachelor of Science of Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and his MBA from the Jones Graduate School at Rice University. Prior to joining Rice in 2007, Larry served four years of active duty in the U.S. Navy, Civil Engineer Corp. He has served as the project manager for Brochstein Pavilion, the John and Anne Grove, the new wings of Baker and Will Rice Colleges, the Brian Patterson Sports Performance Center, Kraft Hall for Social Sciences, and the Waltrip Center.

Faten Tayeh is a Project Manager for Sustainability with Facilities, Engineering, and Planning. In this role she leads and supports the management of all aspects of new construction and renovation projects on the Rice campus. She earned a B.S. in Environmental Studies from California State University, Sacramento.
Fondren Library and Academic Building Facilities Liaison

Joe Hatfield has been with Rice for over 35 years, where he initially started as Fondren Library's first building manager in 1984. Joe now serves as FE&P's academic building facilities liaison, overseeing Robert R. Herring Hall, Anderson Hall, Sewall Hall, Herzstein Hall, and Rayzor Hall. He is responsible for work order and special work request coordination, building inspections, and project management assistance in conjunction with facilities project managers.
Engineering, Liaison

Angie Chen holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Trinity University. Before joining Rice University, Angie worked for 17 years as a consultant in healthcare, non-profit, and in the higher education construction industry. She joined Rice as the program manager and interim director for the Rice Design Alliance in 2017. She has been part of the FE&P team since 2019. Angie is the project management liaison for The George R. Brown School of Engineering.
Natural Sciences and Engineering Facilities Liaison

Koady Herron has a Certificate of Completion from the Houston School of Carpentry – Electrical Technician Program and holds an Electrical Journeyman License with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which he completed in 2020. Koady also has an extensive background in providing regular preventive maintenance to engines, air compressors, generators, motors, AC units, alarms, and lighting in one or more of his prior work experiences preceding Rice. Koady’s work history also includes serving our country in the United States Army as a member of the Military Police from August 2004 – March 2012.

Florence Tang is an architectural associate, project manager, journalist and design activist trained in architecture and mass media. She has orchestrated and is a core leader of ground-up architecture, exhibit, design-build construction and renovation projects that have garnered local and international press.
She is a Facilities and Capital Planning project manager, a member of the F&CP IDEA Committee, a facilitator of the undergraduate seminar course Critical Dialogues on Diversity, and serves as an OEDK engineering design mentor for students developing innovative solutions for community and client-based projects. She is FEMA ICS certified.

Matt earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Texas A&M University and his Masters in Healthcare Administration from Trinity University. Prior to joining Rice in 2019, Matt served in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps and worked in the healthcare industry as a facilities project manager. Matt is the project management liaison for the Wiess School of Natural Sciences.
Moody Center for the Arts and Shepherd School of Music Liaison

Mildred earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design and Masters in Architecture from Texas A&M University. Prior to joining Rice University in 2022, Mildred worked as a Project Manager in Texas A&M University for 8 years. She is an architect in training with a focus on historical preservation. Mildred is the project management liaison for the Moody Center for the Arts and the Shepherd School of Music.
