Since 2000, the total gross square footage at Rice has grown from just over three million to nearly six million. This rapid growth has emphasized the importance of continual and careful stewardship of Rice’s valuable space resource. Facilities Engineering and Planning assists the Office of the Provost with effective management of space at Rice. In 2013 the Space Task Force, chartered by the Provost, issued its report outlining several recommendations and standards designed to promote effective utilization of space at Rice.
Mission: To work with the University Space Committee and the office of the Provost to provide effective space management services supporting improvements and integrated planning of the university's infrastructure in support of the university’s mission.
