Space Management

Mission: To work with the University Space Committee, the Office of the Provost, and University Stakeholders to incorporate effective space management strategies through integrated planning of the university's infrastructure and physical plant to support the university’s mission.

Since 2000, Rice's total square footage has grown from just over three million to over six million. This rapid growth has emphasized the importance of continual and careful stewardship of Rice’s valuable space resource. Facilities Engineering and Planning assists the Office of the Provost with effectively managing space at Rice. In 2013, the Space Task Force, chartered by the Provost, issued its report outlining several recommendations and standards designed to promote effective space utilization at Rice.
